A situation of starvation has become in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. In this trouble, India is sending wheat and medicines to Afghanistan as humanitarian help. For this, Pakistan's Wagah border route was being used. On the 21st of last month, the permission to use this route from Pakistan had expired.
Now, the new government of Pakistan has given india permission to use this route again for two months. The Indian government had recently appealed to Pakistan to use this route for transportation of 50,000 tonnes of wheat and essential medicines.
The modalities for India will remain the same as before.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said, "To overcome the Afghanistan crisis, we have decided to extend the Indian transportation facility by two months. All its modalities will be the same as those that were told to India earlier. The Indian High Commissioner has been informed about this.
India promised to send help.
India had last year promised to provide 50,000 tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan. To complete this, the first consignment of 2500 tonnes of wheat was dispatched to Afghanistan two months ago via Pakistan via attari-Wagah border.
Help goes to Afghanistan via Pakistan
India had announced to send 50,000 tonnes of wheat, medicines and medical equipment on October 2021 on the appeal of the US and the UN. For this, help was sought from Pakistan, as the goods are being sent through trucks, first to Pakistan and then to Afghanistan, from the Attari-Wagah border.
There are three benefits to it. First, the expenses are decreasing. Secondly, goods are being sent quickly and easily. Third, it is easier to deliver this help to the Afghan people.
